LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – APP – ) :Provincial Minister for Health Dr. Yasmin Rashid on Wednesday directed to constitute a special committee for providing proper care to the patients of dementia.

Presiding over a meeting at Specialized Healthcare and Medical education department here, she said dementia patients would be properly registered in all the public sector hospitals of Punjab.

She said a state-of-the-art centre would also be established in Punjab Institute of Mental Health for looking after dementia patients whereas vacant posts of neurologists and psychologists in the public sector hospitals of the province would soon be filled.

Memory clinics would also be established in Punjab for provision of better healthcare facilities to the dementia patients, she said and added that special committees would be duty bound to present the report regarding registration of dementia patients and provision of healthcare facilities to them on monthly basis.

She said there was a dire need to launch special awareness campaign regarding dementia, adding medical teaching hospitals could play an important role in this regard.
