Ex-Dallas County sheriff’s worker admits embezzling more than $250K from inmate fund

A former Dallas County Sheriff’s Department employee has admitted embezzling more than $250,000 from the department’s jail inmate property fund over the course of three years. Umeka Treymane Myers, 49, pleaded guilty Thursday to one federal count of theft from a program receiving federal funds. Her attorney, Camille Knight, declined to comment.
