Fort Worth school trustee dies following brief illness

Daphne Brookins, a Fort Worth school board trustee, died Friday following a bout with a brief illness, officials said. Brookins, whose District 4 includes parts of southeast Fort Worth, was known as a young adult motivational speaker and writer and had recently served as an adjunct professor at her alma mater, Texas Wesleyan University, district officials said.
