19-year-old charged with murder in road-rage shooting death of man in north Oak Cliff

Police have arrested a 19-year-old suspect in connection with the fatal road-rage shooting of a man in north Oak Cliff last month.

Vincent Harris has been charged with murder in the death of Joe Dominguez, 28, who died at a hospital after his vehicle was shot at in the 700 block of Sabine Street, near North Ewing and North Lancaster avenues. Bond has not yet been set.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Dominguez and another person were northbound on Marsalis Avenue about 1:15 p.m. on July 26 when they noticed a white Dodge sedan with dark-tinted windows driving aggressively behind them.

Harris was at the wheel of the Dodge, the affidavit said. The sedan continued to follow so closely behind Dominguez’s vehicle that his passenger feared a collision. When Dominguez turned eastbound onto Sabine, so did the sedan.

According to the affidavit, Harris then pulled alongside Dominguez’ car and began shooting, striking Dominguez in the head and causing his car to crash.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded and transported Dominguez to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injures several hours later. The passenger, who had called 911, suffered minor cuts from broken glass in the incident.

Investigators were able to track down surveillance video of the suspect vehicle before and after the offense, the affidavit said. Based on that information, they determined the vehicle to be a white 2011-2014 Dodge Avenger with no front plate, a black driver-side rear-view mirror and chrome paneling on the door pillars.

Officers saw a car matching that description the following day and performed a traffic stop. Harris, who was driving, agreed to appear for a voluntary interview. Under interrogation, he denied involvement in the incident, but police say cell phone records showed him to be in the vicinity at the time of the crime.

Harris was arrested Thursday.
