An unusually warm Christmas

We are in store for a stretch of unusually warm, probably record-breaking weather in the coming days. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will feature highs in the low 80s. That will likely lead to a record high temperature on Christmas. As a reminder, the normal high this time of year at DFW is 56.

Along with the warmth, there will be a gusty south wind that can lead to an elevated fire danger for western areas of North Texas.

Next week will remain quite mild with highs mostly in the 70s. There will be cooler air poised to the north, but at this time it looks as if it will struggle to make it into North Texas before the New year’s weekend.
