From the ‘Hit Man’ to the ‘Candy Man’: Infamous Houston crimes that happened in August

Houston, unsurprisingly, is chalked full of crime headlines.

Chron.com compiled a list of infamous Houston Chronicle crime headlines from month of August, dating back to 1970 – including when hit man Charles V. Harrelson pleaded not guilty to killing carpet executive Alan Berg (Harrelson was eventually found not guilty).

Others include a cold case that left three women dead, that still hasn’t been solved to this day.
