Get involved: Give back to the community with these volunteer opportunities

Many nonprofit organizations are temporarily closed for personal interactions because of COVID-19 social distancing procedures, but opportunities still exist to help out, including many virtually. Here are four organizations that need your help. For more options, visit FWD>DFW (fwddfw.com) and VolunteerNow (voly.org).

The Human Impact

Join nonprofit The Human Impact on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to distribute meals in South Dallas to those in need. Participants will caravan from four to six stops near Austin Street Center, OurCalling and The Bridge Homeless Shelter. For more information or to volunteer, email alyssa@thehumanimpact.org.

DFW Sewing Relief

DFW Sewing Relief continues to recruit volunteers to make masks, prepare kits and pick up and drop off donations for COVID-19 first responders, hospitals and vulnerable populations, such as the homeless and low-income families. Local and state guidelines are followed for social distancing, and contact-free pick-up and drop-off locations are available throughout Dallas-Fort Worth. Opportunities to make masks at home are also available.
