MDC spend iftar dinner money in charity for the welfare of the society

Dallas: Muslim Democratic host annual iftar called “An iftar with Democrats”. The groups practice is on for last 19 years. This year dinner is hosted with a twist from Corona Virus pandemic. Small number of MDC leaders met and collected daily needs goods and money was collected for a charity Brighter Tomorrow, a charitable group in Irving for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. The charitable group provides shelter to victims of domestic abuse and provide them counseling and other services needed by victims besides their daily use service items.

Muslim Democratic Caucus collected a lot of items and the leadership team broke their fast together. Iftar was participated by State of Texas House Rep. Terry Meza, MDC Board Members and past Presidents Amir Makhani, Syed Fayyaz Hassan, Aftab Siddiqui, Wanda Zamorano, Bob Sheiks, Raja Zahid Khanzada and Babar Hassan were among participants.

Participants of the event said that Ramazan is month of fasting and month of giving. This is our expression of thanks to God and to stay humble in this month. Since this year iftar program could not be hosted as in previous years, so MDC decided to spend that money in charity for the welfare of our society. Those who are weaker segments of society. Aftab Siddiqui talked about uptick in domestic violence cases during the pandemic is at alarming stage. He said that the whole society is under tremendous stress and a lot of issues are emerging from this pandemic. Amir Makhani said that a lot of people are in need in our society from this pandemic. He gave a check of $500 besides bringing goods worth thousands of dollars for the charity. Aftab Siddiqui said that around 2 million people are out of jobs from this pandemic, He said Brighter Tomorrow is providing an extremely important work for our society and is very much relevant at this time. Muslim Democratic Caucus activist Syed Fayyaz Hassan said that when we go out and ask for votes in election campaigns, we also try to help our society needs specially in crisis for people. Thanking all the participating, Board member and media coordinator Raja Zahid Khanzada said that the way MDC members participated in this cause is a proof that we don’t just ask people for their votes, but we also work when they are in need.

Brighter Tomorrow Representative Norman and Ms. Kline thanked the Muslim Democratic Caucus for the generosity and support they gave to this charitable group. He said that all the goods and supplies donated will be a big help to the victims of domestic violence for which he thanks all the board members and donors for their efforts specially Wanda Zamorano for her support and connecting MDC with Brighter Tomorrow.
