Bicyclist hit by wrong-way driver in northeast Houston, witnesses say

A man is in serious condition after a wrong-way driver slammed into his bicycle Friday in northeast Houston, witnesses and police say.

The driver of a black SUV was driving south in the 4700 block of Lockwood Drive, near Rand Street, when she allegedly crossed across the center line and struck the northbound cyclist, witnesses told Chron.com. The man was thrown off the bike as the SUV slammed into a ditch that runs along Lockwood, causing the vehicle to spin around and entrap the driver

Firefighters cut the driver out of the SUV. Both the driver and the cyclist were rushed to area hospitals in unknown conditions.
