Woman slain in possible road rage shooting was generous wife, mother

A fatal shooting possibly linked to a road rage incident took the life of a Katy area woman who was dedicated to helping others, including people in need in her Caribbean homeland, her family said Wednesday.

Saron James’ relatives described her as a generous and godly woman who often sent barrels of goods to her native St. Vincent Island as well as other communities.

The 62-year-old woman was on her way home from a doctor’s appointment Tuesday night when gunfire struck her vehicle in northwest Harris County. Authorities said they believe she and her husband were “complete innocent victims” and caught in the middle of gunfire.

Her  husband, Cleveland James, said Wednesday the gunfire came through a back window on the driver’s side of their car.

“It’s a shock,” their daughter, Kelley Mock, said Wednesday inside their home. “I don’t have the words to say how you feel when you get a call from your father with that news and you hear what he’s saying but it doesn’t make any sense and you know he’s telling the truth. It’s just surreal
