The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said Juan Treviño, 33, drove off with his daughter, Jaya, after assaulting the child’s mother Monday evening.

They were found Tuesday morning in San Antonio after authorities worked throughout the night, Sheriff Javier Salazar said.

Jaya appeared unharmed and has been reunited with her mother. Officials said she was going to undergo a medical evaluation because she struck her head on the door frame as she was being carried out of her home.

Treviño was booked into the Bexar County jail on multiple family-violence charges and a count of violating a protective order. It was unclear whether he would face kidnapping charges. His bail had not been set.
