Man is shot by police, faces charges after reportedly pointing rifle at McKinney officers

A man was shot by police and faces charges after authorities say he pointed a rifle at McKinney officers early Sunday.

McKinney police were called to a home in the 2300 block of North Ridge Road, near Virginia Parkway and U.S. Highway 75, just before 3 a.m. for a report of a domestic-violence incident.

A woman was able to leave the home, but a man refused to come outside, police said. He then pointed a rifle through a window and police fired, hitting him in the shoulder, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

He has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, and police said additional charges are pending.
