Summer doldrums continue

At this time of the year, the average temperature for DFW is about 96 degrees each afternoon, with overnight lows in the mid to upper 70s. And it appears that is what we can look forward to in the next 7 to 10 days: typical late July Texas heat.

While it will remain hot across North Texas, the temperatures will stay below 100 during this coming week. But it will still be uncomfortable outside, with an afternoon heat index around 100 each day.

Rain chances remain very low for DFW this week. But with a temporary split in the ridge of high pressure overhead, that opens up the possibility of a few pop up showers Tuesday afternoon, primarily southeast of DFW.
