19-year-old man fatally shot after entering Dallas apartment without consent, police say

A 19-year-old man was fatally shot early Sunday in northeast Dallas after he tried to to enter an apartment without consent, police say.

Officers responded about 1:20 a.m. to the Villa del Solamar Apartments in the 8300 block of Park Lane near Greenville Avenue and found Darwin Chavarria with a gunshot wound, police said.

Police said they suspect that Chavarria had tried to enter the tenant’s apartment without permission and that the resident shot him when he got inside.

Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced Chavarria dead at the scene, and the tenant was taken to the homicide unit to be interviewed, police said.
