Dallas County reports 332 coronavirus cases, 2 deaths

Dallas County reported 332 coronavirus cases Sunday — 93 of them from the clearing of a state backlog of results.

Two more deaths were reported: a Grand Prairie man in his 60s and a Mesquite man in his 70s. Both were being treated in area hospitals and had underlying health problems, the county said.

Of the 93 backlogged cases, five were from March, 31 were from April, 22 were from June and three were from July.

Those backlogged results and the remaining 239 new cases reported Sunday brought Dallas County’s total to 68,904 cases, or about 26.1 out of every 1,000 residents, and 857 deaths.

From Aug. 1 to 14, the county said, 531 children between the ages of 5 and 18 were diagnosed with COVID-19. About half of them were of high school age, the county said, and more than half of all children were projected to be enrolled in Dallas ISD schools.
