Texas police officer killed after EF-1 tornado strikes his home

A tragic incident has claimed the life of Lt. James Waller, a 22-year veteran of the Conroe Police Department in Texas. Lt. Waller succumbed to injuries sustained when a tornado struck his home in Trinity. The Conroe Police Department announced his passing on social media, stating that despite multiple surgeries, his injuries proved fatal. Lt. Waller’s family had the opportunity to be with him before he passed away.

The tornado hit Lt. Waller’s residence while he and his wife were at home. While Lt. Waller tragically lost his life, his wife sustained injuries but survived the ordeal, as reported by the police department.

The National Weather Service classified the tornado as an EF1, with wind speeds reaching around 100 mph (161 kph). The tornado’s duration was brief, touching down for just over 0.25 miles (0.40 kilometers) and lasting for one to two minutes.
