Places to grab a to-go cheeseburger in Southlake on National Cheeseburger Day

It’s National Cheeseburger Day, perhaps the best day of the year — at least for burger diehards.

Here are five of the best to-go iterations in Southlake:

Kincaid’s Hamburgers has a junior burger, but on National Cheeseburger Day, that would be practically illegal to order. The regular bacon cheeseburger is a half-pound of 100% black Angus beef, ground in-house and covered in melted American cheese. For extra cheesiness, insiders know to order it with pimento cheese, yielding a ridiculously unctuous bite. 100 N. Kimball Ave., 817-416-2573

Del Frisco’s Grille has a doozy of a steakhouse burger consisting of double-stacked USDA prime beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, red onion, something called “sloppy sauce,” tomato and pickle. Note to inside-the-car diners: Make sure to yield to the sauce. 1200 E. Southlake Blvd., 817-410-3777

Taverna Rossa is known for its craft pizza and beer, but there’s a patty melt here that might be calling your name. The TR Patty Melt features an all-beef patty, caramelized onions, Monterey Jack cheese and pepper cream sauce atop Texas toast. If this also sounds like a messy car-eating enterprise — yes, it is. (But worth every calorie.) 1151 E. Southlake Blvd., 817-809-4533

Moxie’s is now open in Southlake Town Square, and its loaded burger is worth checking out. Aged white and “orange” cheddar, red relish, pickled mustard-seed mayo, sauteed mushrooms, bacon and barbecue sauce all compete in a jaw-stretching (and dropping) experience. 1472 Main St., 817-764-2767

Shake Shack is right around the corner from Moxie’s, but one should never sleep on this titan of turned-up-a-notch, fast-casual cheeseburgers. Between its distinguishable slightly sweet potato rolls, therein lies greatness. The Double Smokeshack features melty cheese, applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry peppers and ShackSauce. Add that there’s curbside pick-up available, and, well:
