Officer exchanges gunfire with man during arrest in northwest Dallas, police say

A Dallas police officer exchanged gunfire with a man during an arrest Thursday night at an apartment complex in northwest Dallas, though police said no one was injured.

Police were called to the 3400 block of Webb Chapel Extension just before 10 p.m. Thursday after to a call about a man knocking on several doors at the apartments, police said.

When officers arrived, they located a 26-year-old man who fit the description of the man who was knocking on doors, police said.

A struggle ensued when officers began to search the man, police said. Police alleged the man then produced a handgun and exchanged gunfire with one of the officers.

The man ran away but was apprehended a short time later and taken into custody.

Police did not identify the man, and said the investigation is ongoing.
