Suspect with knife killed in Arlington officer-involved shooting

Arlington police are investigating a shooting that involved an officer Thursday evening.

The shooting happened in the 2700 block of Lawrence Road, near Collins Street and NE Green Oaks Boulevard.

Arlington PD says they received a 911 call to an apartment complex in the area just before 5 p.m. in reference to a stabbing report. A caller reported stabbing someone to death, police said.

Upon arrival, officers could see an adult male looking outside of the window so officers immediately set up a perimeter. Police say the man exited the apartment with a knife in hand.

After being given commands to lower his weapon by officers, the man did not comply with the instructions and began charging towards the officers.

According to APD, that’s when an officer opened fire, striking the suspect. The man fell to the ground and quickly got up and began running while officers chased him. During the foot pursuit, the male turned around, raised his knife toward the officers, and began coming towards them. The same officer fired another shot.
