Dallas welcomes women’s pro soccer team to Cotton Bowl Stadium this summer

A new professional women’s soccer team is set to make Fair Park’s Cotton Bowl Stadium its home soon, following approval from the Dallas City Council on Wednesday. The plan, greenlit for at least the next two years, brings excitement to soccer fans, particularly young girls eager to see women’s professional sports in the spotlight.

Dallas City Councilmember Chad West expressed his enthusiasm, noting the significance for soccer enthusiasts, including his 8-year-old daughter, who has been playing soccer since she could walk. The team, part of the inaugural season of the USL Super League, will be officially unveiled at Klyde Warren Park.

Joining seven other teams in the league’s debut season, the Dallas team will compete against squads from Brooklyn, Charlotte, Fort Lauderdale, Lexington, Spokane, Tampa, and Washington, D.C. The league plans for expansion in 2025 and beyond, with additional clubs in Chattanooga, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Madison, Oakland, Palm Beach, Phoenix, and Tucson.

Promising adherence to U.S. Soccer’s Division One standards, the USL Super League will follow the ‘fall-to-summer’ soccer calendar, aligning with global norms and anchoring the USL’s youth-to-pro women’s pathway.

This announcement follows another significant sports development in Dallas, with the WNBA’s Dallas Wings relocating from Arlington to Dallas Memorial Auditorium starting in 2026. The move, facilitated by a 15-year, $19 million agreement, underscores Dallas’ commitment to becoming a hub for professional sports.

Councilmember West credited Mayor Johnson’s leadership and Council Member Adam Bazaldua’s efforts in championing professional sports relocations and activating Fair Park and the Cotton Bowl.

The USL Super League’s inaugural season is scheduled to commence on Friday, Aug. 16, promising an exciting new chapter in women’s soccer. More information about the league can be found at uslsuperleague.com.
