Genevieve Collins pulls out of congressional debate after undergoing emergency surgery

Genevieve Collins’ campaign team announced Sunday evening that the congressional candidate underwent multiple surgeries in the last week and will be unable to participate in a scheduled debate against incumbent U.S. Rep. Colin Allred for Dallas County’s District 32 congressional seat.

Collins underwent an emergency appendectomy and was taken into surgery again Sunday after she experienced complications, the Republican candidate’s campaign manager, Rob Costello, said in a statement posted on Collins’ Twitter account.

She remained hospitalized but was expected to make a full recovery, Costello said about 8 p.m. Sunday.

He said the two campaigns were working to reschedule the debate, which had been planned for 7 p.m. Monday.
