Feeling like winter today, cold and wet

Get ready, here comes a taste of winter! Cold and wet weather is in store for North Texas today with the possibility of some wintry precipitation to the northwest late tonight into early Tuesday.

While DFW will not see any winter precipitation, it will certainly feel like winter with temperatures dropping into the 40s today. Wind chills will be in the 30s. As for precipitation, light to moderate rain is expected to fall off and on throughout the day in DFW. Farther west, colder air could pose a threat for some light icing late tonight and Tuesday as temperatures drop close to freezing.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Jack, Young, Palo Pinto and Stephens counties late tonight. A few slick bridges are possible in this area early Tuesday morning.

The cold and rainy pattern will stick around through Wednesday. Sunshine isn’t likely to return until Thursday.

Next weekend looks very nice and warmer. That means the weather will improve considerably in time for Halloween and Election Day. Just a reminder: Daylight Saving Time ends next Sunday, too. Clocks will be set back one hour Saturday night.
