Adopt an older cat or dog for free in Irving this Saturday in honor of Thanksgiving

Vance is an Alaskan Husky mix. Ruben is an Australian Shepherd. And Lola is a terrier-pit bull.

All three are among the animals that will be free to adopt Saturday at the Irving Animal Care Campus.

Irving Animal Services is waiving adoption fees for animals one and older for the day as part of a Thanksgiving-themed event that aims to pair potential pet owners with thankful pets.

To help protect the health and safety of staff and visitors, the center has changed its processes.

Interested adopters can view available animals online. Upon arrival, call 972-721-2256 to check in, and a staff member will escort visitors to meet with the pet or pets they are interested in. Adopters must be at least 18 years old and provide a valid photo ID.

Animals available for adoption will be up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed or neutered and microchipped.

The campus, 4140 Valley View Lane, will be open noon-6 p.m. Saturday.
