Police seek pair who stole bulldog puppies from North Dallas pet store

Dallas police are looking for two people who stole bulldog puppies from a North Dallas pet store on Christmas Eve.

Police said Monday that the pair, who were driving a white Dodge Challenger, broke into the Petland in the 11900 block of Preston Road, near Forest Lane, about 1:15 a.m.

Surveillance footage shows one of the two people breaking a glass door with what appear to be bolt cutters. The pair, carrying bags, then go into the back of the store and grab several puppies out of kennels.

The North Dallas Petland has been the site of a number of crimes in recent years:

• A man asked to see a Malti-Tzu puppy in April 2017, then walked out of the store with the dog.
• A couple used a stolen identity to apply for a credit card and buy a $6,666 French bulldog in August 2016.
• A man walked out of the store with a Siberian husky puppy in July 2015; police returned the dog the next day.
• Eight puppies worth a total of $12,000 were stolen in an early-morning break-in in December 2012.
• A woman left the store with a $1,700 parrot on her shoulder in September 2012; a man who later bought the parrot returned it after he learned it had been stolen.
