Today’s front won’t bring much of a cooldown, here’s what it will do…

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Today is the day we’ve been waiting for, as a cold front moves through SE Texas later this morning and helps to clear out the dreary weather we’ve been stuck with.

A Pacific cold front will move into Southeast Texas Monday morning and should be off the coast by the mid afternoon. Along and ahead of the front, we will be looking at scattered showers and a few storms. Severe weather is not anticipated. Behind the front, drier air will move in. Skies will start to clear and we will also get a break from the fog.

What do our rain chances look like until Monday’s cold front arrives?

Rain chances today are at 60%. Those rain chances are only for the morning hours along and out ahead of the front, we’ll be dry this afternoon as that front clears the area.

Can we expect a big cool down behind this front?

Sadly, no, this front doesn’t bring much of a cool down, lows tonight will be around 50 degrees with high temperatures on Tuesday still warming to the low 70s.

Any cold air in sight?

While the front arriving Sunday doesn’t being in significantly cooler air, we do have a reinforcing shot of colder air that arrives with a front on Wednesday. It’s far from frigid, but Wednesday’s front will help knock down high temperatures in to the 60s and lows in the 40s.

How about rain chances?

We’ll see some showers with the frontal passage today (Monday morning), but beyond that rain chances are pretty low for the next 10 days.
