Beautiful but pollen-filled weekend, storms return next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’re keeping the streak of beautiful weather rolling in to the first day of Spring and through the weekend. Morning temperatures are chilly and refreshing, mostly in the low 40s, but we’ll warm up to the low 70s this afternoon. We’ll get full sunshine Saturday, then clouds will return Sunday along with the Gulf breeze.

Allergy sufferers beware! The weather might be gorgeous this weekend, but the trees aren’t playing nice. Oak, Ash, Pine, and Hackberry pollen are all in the “high” category.
How long will this sunshine last?
We’ll see a little cloud cover move in Sunday afternoon, but will still get to enjoy a good amount of sunshine. More moisture streams in Monday bringing back clouds and rain chances.

When do we see more rain?
After our beautiful weekend we’ll see rain chances pick up next week as a more unsettled weather pattern develops. Rain chances will start on Monday and continue through Thursday of next week.

Are we done with freezes?

We are more than likely done with freezes this season, and there are currently no freezes in our 10-day forecast. If you’re wanting to put plants in the ground, you’re more than likely okay to do so. Going back to the late 1800s, there are only 12 years we’ve had a freeze after March 19th. During the great February arctic outbreaks in the late 1800s, there were no more freezes beyond the first week of March, so if history repeats itself after this February’s winter storm, we are done with freezes until after the summer.
