1 dead in tanker truck fire that shut down main lanes on I-10 WB in Katy

KATY, Texas (KTRK) — DPS says one person was killed when a tanker truck crashed and caught fire along the Katy Freeway.

According to a tweet posted by the Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Constable’s office, a tanker truck caught fire on the feeder and all westbound main lanes are closed near Cane Island Parkway. That’s right in front of the Bucee’s.

A tweet from TxDOT’s Houston district says crews are on the scene to help with the clean-up process and the main lane closure is expected to continue for several more hours.

Katy Police and DPS troopers are on scene.

Authorities are asking anyone in the area to take an alternate route and avoid the area.
