Plano reaches 17,275 coronavirus cases, plus resources for residents during the pandemic

Plano has had 17,275 confirmed coronavirus cases, a figure equal to 6.06% of the city’s population, according to Plano’s website. The most recent number of deaths reported is 36.

Collin County has had 74,215 confirmed cases and 822 fatalities. Collin County previously announced it will no longer post COVID-19 case data on its website. Counts of new and confirmed cases, recoveries and deaths are now listed by the Department of State Health Services at this link.

Due to multiple changes in reporting methods, there could be discrepancies in the figures.

State officials announced that any adult in Texas can receive the COVID-19 vaccine beginning March 29, making the Lone Star State the largest in the country to open up shots to anyone.

Collin County maintains a website for latest COVID-19 updates, including a link to an online vaccine registration page. Plano also has a webpage dedicated to vaccine information.

The Department of State Health Services has also posted information about when and where Texas residents can get a vaccine. For more information on the COVID-19 vaccine, go here.

Although Texans are no longer required to wear a face mask, city officials encourage people to still do so.

“Despite the removal of restrictions, we strongly encourage our patrons to continue to wear a face mask when possible, stay six feet away from those not a part of the same household, and wash hands or use hand sanitizer frequently,” Plano spokesperson Steve Stoler said in an email. “City employees will continue to wear their face masks at all times, and will continue with enhanced cleaning protocols at all facilities.”
