2 children and 1 adult killed, 3 other adults injured when cars collide in Denton, police say

Two children and an adult were killed and three other people were injured Sunday morning when two cars collided on U.S. Highway 380 in Denton, police said.

One car with two adults and another car carrying the two children and two other adults hit each other head-on about 11:45 a.m. near the intersection of the highway and Rockhill Road, Denton police said.

An adult in one car died at the scene. The children in the other car, who were ages 1 and 5, were pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.

Of the three adult survivors, two were in critical condition and one was in stable condition at local hospitals, police said.

Two other cars were involved, but their occupants were not injured, police said. Investigators had not yet determined the cause of the crash.

“Our hearts go out to everyone involved in this tragedy, and we ask that the community keep everyone involved in their thoughts as well,” Denton police said in a written statement.

The highway was closed for several hours Sunday afternoon as police processed the scene.
