Garland restaurants, bars sold $2.4M in alcohol as COVID-19 restrictions eased. Here’s where drinkers spent the most

Garland restaurants and bars reported more than $2.4 million in alcohol sales in March as COVID-19 restrictions across the region were eased.

The 19-county region that includes Dallas County was required to lower restaurant capacity to 50% and close all bars from December through mid-February. Those restrictions were rolled back when hospitalizations dropped below 15% of the region’s total hospital bed capacity — a threshold set by Gov. Greg Abbott — on Feb. 16, allowing bars to reopen and restaurants to serve at 75% capacity.

Since March, most restaurants and bars have resumed normal operations after Abbott ended the statewide mask mandate and reopened businesses to 100% occupancy on March 10.

Here are the Garland restaurants, bars and venues where people spent the most on alcohol in March, according to state data.

Business name Total mixed beverage receipts, March
Hooters $172,775
Gloria’s Restaurant $139,578
Strike + Reel $136,868
Da Boyz Sports Bar and Grill $128,335
Flying Saucer Draught Emporium $118,134
Herb’s Social $116,945
Texas Roadhouse $92,220
Bar Louie $91,805
Houlihan’s $64,652
Pete’s Burger Wings & Drinks $52,050

Frisco restaurants and bars reported more than $6.2 million in alcohol sales in March, and ones in Allen reported more than $2.6 million.
