Plano man who was missing for more than a day is found safe in Waco

Plano police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who has been missing for more than a day after telling relatives that he was lost.

Frank Smith, 85, left his home about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday to run errands. About 7:15 p.m., he used a stranger’s cellphone to call his son and leave a message saying that he was lost in Dallas but was headed home.

Police said Wednesday night that Smith’s vehicle has been spotted by several surveillance cameras but his whereabouts are unknown.

Smith is described as a white man who is 5-9 and about 130 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a red Kansas Jayhawks ball cap, a long-sleeve plaid button-up shirt and baggy jeans.

He is driving a white 2008 Lexus LS 460 with Texas license plate DH2-D113.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts may call 911 or Detective Steve Sanders at 972-941-2212.
