Arlington police seek public’s help identifying person of interest in fatal hit-and-run

Arlington police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person of interest in connection with a fatal hit-and-run incident from last week.

Around 9:18 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a crash involving four cars near the intersection of Arkansas Lane and Cooper Street, police said.

A Buick Lacrosse sedan that was eastbound on Arkansas ran a red light and hit a car was traveling south on Cooper, police said. The car that was hit then hit two empty cars that were in a parking lot. The driver of the car that was hit, 39-year-old Douglas Osiemo of Arlington, was pronounced dead at the site of the crash, police said.

Police have said two people the Buick fled the scene. On Tuesday, the department released surveillance footage showing a man who it said was walking behind a nearby business after incident.

Arlington police said that the Pantego Police Department said that one of its officers had tried to stop the Buick on Arkansas Lane near Bowen Street — less than two miles west of the eventual crash scene — but that the car sped away.

Witnesses reported that the Buick was traveling over 100 mph and ran several red lights before it hit the victim’s Osiemo’s car, police said.

Police said officers found “contraband” inside the Buick, but added that the car had not been reported stolen.

Arlington police said anyone who recognized the person in the surveillance camera footage can call Sgt. Pina at 817-459-5608. People can also submit tips anonymously by calling the Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.
