Less rain this weekend, more storms to come next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Saturday will bring more seasonal summer heat, but there’s still a chance you’ll get a cooling downpour during the afternoon.

Temperatures will dip into the upper 70s by sunrise, then reach into the upper 90s during the afternoon. The combination of heat and humidity will be close to the Heat Advisory criteria of 108.

A few showers will be possible along the coast in the morning, then the rain chance will shift inland toward Houston during the afternoon hours. Most neighborhoods will stay dry, but if you do get a storm, you can expect up to a quick inch of rain, frequent lightning, and wind gusts up to 40 mph.

What are we expecting for the rest of the weekend?
More heat! Isolated afternoon downpours are possible Sunday as temperatures inch closer to 100-degrees.

When will the next summer front impact us?

At this time it appears the front will impact us after the weekend, approaching Monday night and arriving on Tuesday. When it arrives, widely scattered downpours are possible followed by below “normal” temps with highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 70s.
