Thunderstorms return on Sunday

Oppressive heat continued into the weekend with the high on Saturday again reaching 100 at DFW Airport, and with even higher Heat Index values. A Heat Advisory will expire at 7 pm Saturday. But a rare early August cold front will arrive Sunday afternoon, bringing some relief.

The summertime cold front and pattern shift will bring a bit cooler weather and increased rain chances to North Texas during the Sunday afternoon hours into Sunday night. A few showers will linger into Monday morning. As the front moves south into Central Texas on Monday afternoon, the rain chances will decrease.

The work week will be slightly cooler with highs in the low to mid 90s. But temperatures will be on the rise again as we head into next weekend.
