Storms continue into Sunday night

August began hot and humid. The temperature reached 99 degrees at 3 pm. But then strong thunderstorms moved through the area along with an early August cold front, and the temperature dropped to 76 by 5 pm.

These thunderstorms produced a wind gust of 54 mph at DFW Airport. And there were several reports of quarter to golf ball size hail along the Airport Freeway from Euless to Bedford.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue through the evening and into Sunday night. The threat of severe weather will diminish. But dangerous lightning will continue, along with downpours that will flood some city streets. A few showers will linger through midday on Monday, and temperatures will be significantly lower this week than they were last week.
