Plano spraying for mosquitos after samples test positive for West Nile Virus

Plano will spray for mosquitos Wednesday after samples from two mosquito traps have tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Weather permitting, crews from the city’s environmental department will spray in targeted areas near where the traps were collected.

Spraying is scheduled to take place in areas bordered by the following streets.

Site 1

North — 14th Street

South — Rabbit Trail

East — Nimitz Lane

West — Mossy Rock Drive

Site 12

North — Kirkwall Street

South — West Plano Parkway / Tradition Trail

East — Coit Road

West — Fulgham Road

The city’s environmental quality division is also surveying areas around the traps to determine what other steps can be taken to reduce mosquito habitats.

Residents are asked to ensure all children and pets are indoors during the spraying, which begins at 9 p.m.
