1 in custody after 4 assaulted in attack at Fort Worth shopping mall, police say

Four people were assaulted Wednesday afternoon during a stabbing attack at a shopping mall on Fort Worth’s South Side, police said.

Fort Worth police did not specify how many of the four people were stabbed. KXAS-TV (NBC5), citing MedStar Mobile Healthcare, reported that three people were stabbed.

Police said officers were dispatched to the LaGran Plaza mall, near Interstate 35W and Seminary Drive, around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday after an off-duty officer reported that a man inside the building had a “sharp metal object.”

Fort Worth police spokesman Daniel Segura said the adult suspect, who is in police custody and whose name and age haven’t been released, assaulted four people. He didn’t detail the nature of their injuries. One person was taken to the hospital with an injury not considered life-threatening, Segura said. No one else was taken to the hospital, he said.
