Gunshots fired in direction of Dallas police officer in west Oak Cliff, police say; no one injured

A Dallas police officer was sitting in his patrol car in west Oak Cliff late Friday when several shots were fired in his direction, the department said Saturday.

Police said in a news release that no one was injured in the incident, which happened just after 11:30 p.m. in the 5300 block of West Jefferson Boulevard, a stretch of road near South Walton Walker Boulevard that’s dotted with car repair and tire shops and other businesses. After hearing “approximately three gunshots,” the officer got out of the car and called for cover, the release stated.

The officer didn’t get a good look at whoever fired the shots, the release said.
