ICE!, The Gaylord’s annual holiday-themed show, is literally on ice

Like an Elf on a Shelf—that’s where the Gaylord Texan Resort’s popular ICE! exhibit will be this holiday season.

Because of COVID-19-related international travel restrictions, the resort has announced that ICE! will not be a part of its annual Lone Star Christmas event because ice carvers cannot make the trip to the Grapevine resort, NBC5 (KXAS-TV) reported.

ICE! is the popular self-guided, walk-through event that features ice sculptures, slides and a nativity scene.

Instead, during the Gaylord’s holiday season, which runs from Nov. 12 to Jan. 2, guests can experience a new “original experience featuring Elf,” in a collaboration with Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment, according to the resort’s website.

Guests can “journey into Buddy the Elf’s world to help save the holiday” in the multi-sensory experience with interactive challenges.

Other activities part of the holiday event include snow tubing, gingerbread decorating, ice skating and photos with Santa.

The resort said it hopes to welcome ICE! back to Texas next year.

“Our plan is to bring our iconic ICE! event back to our Christmas program as soon as international travel policies allow,” according to the resort’s website.
