Nice day Saturday, more humid with rain next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Saturday’s weather will be a lot like Friday’s. Expect a sunny day with fairly low humidity. Ground level Ozone will develop once again so plan your outdoor work and play for the morning or late evening hours, especially if you are an allergy sufferer.

Sunday will be a lot stickier as middle summer humidity levels will return. That added moisture may spark an isolated shower, especially west of the Houston area.

What’s the outlook for the weekend?
A stronger Gulf breeze will push up the humidity levels on Sunday. Highs will still top out around 90 on Saturday. By Sunday there will be enough moisture for a 20% chance of a passing shower.

What are the rain chances for next week?
A weak front will approach us Monday to bring a 30% chance of scattered downpours. It doesn’t actually make it to Houston, so we will remain in the sticky air until another stronger front approaches on Friday. This front will combine with tropical moisture from a Pacific storm and could bring widely scattered downpours. At this time our rain chance is at 40% for Friday, and those chances could go up. The good news is, that front will be a real fall front that’ll give us substantially cooler weather for next weekend.

Is there anything of concern in the tropics?

At this time, no. Texas is normally done with hurricane season by mid October as the steering currents shift and push fronts into the state instead of tropical weather systems. We will be monitoring the Pacific for storms and hurricanes that can enhance the moisture over Texas. You can get a full overview of the tropics on our tropical update page.
