Humid conditions return Sunday, rain chances next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — I hope you enjoyed the cooler mornings and dry weather, because big changes are coming.

Moisture will begin streaming in overnight bringing back the sticky and humid conditions. With the added moisture, a few showers will be possible especially west of Houston. Tomorrow will also be a breezy one with sustained winds between 15 to 25 mph!

What’s the outlook for Sunday?
Moisture returns Sunday bringing back a slight chance for showers. Sunday will also be warm and breezy with high temps reaching to near 90 degrees.

What are the rain chances for next week?
A weak front will approach us Monday to bring a 40% chance of scattered downpours to Houston. A couple of storms north of Houston could bring strong, gusty winds. The front will weaken as it heads to Houston, so we won’t feel much of a change until another stronger front approaches on Friday. This front will combine with tropical moisture from a Pacific storm and could bring widely scattered downpours. At this time our rain chance is at 40% for Friday, and those chances could go up. The good news is, that front will be a real fall front that’ll give us substantially cooler weather for next weekend.

Is there anything of concern in the tropics?

At this time, no. Texas is normally done with hurricane season by mid October as the steering currents shift and push fronts into the state instead of tropical weather systems. We will be monitoring the Pacific for storms and hurricanes that can enhance the moisture over Texas. You can get a full overview of the tropics on our tropical update page.
