One more cool night before a pattern change

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’re in for one more cool night before warmer Gulf air returns.

Temperatures will dip into the 50s before sunrise north of I-10. South of I-10 lows will generally be in the low 60s. Along the coast lows will bottom out in the 70s. Upper level winds will bring back high clouds Tuesday, but enough sunshine will break through to still warm temperatures into the 80s. This is just the beginning of a warming trend that will continue into next week.

Any rain expected this week?
Overall rain chances remain very slim throughout the work week due to a lack of moisture. An isolated shower or two can’t be ruled out this week especially near the coast but most of us will stay dry. We’ll have to wait until next week for a better than 20% chance of rain to return.

How does the weekend look?
It will be noticeably warmer and more humid by the weekend. The Gulf breeze will keep low temperatures near 70 with highs in the mid-to-upper 80s. There will be enough moisture by Sunday for a 20% chance of a shower.

Is there anything of concern in the tropics?

Texas is normally done with hurricane season by mid October. Chief Meteorologist Travis Herzog explains whyhere.
