Unseasonably warm holiday weekend with record warmth likely Christmas Day

We are in store for a stretch of unusually warm, potentially record-breaking weather in the coming days. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will feature highs in the low 80s with breezy south winds. Mostly sunny skies can be expected Christmas Day with record breaking temperatures a good possibility. As a reminder, the normal high this time of year at DFW is 56.

Along with the warmth, gusty south winds and low humidity will contribute to an increased fire danger risk for western areas of North Texas.

Next week will remain quite mild with highs mostly in the 70s. There will be cooler air poised to the north, but at this time it looks as if it will struggle to make it into North Texas before the New year’s weekend.
