9-year-old girl shot in car on R.L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas police say

A 9-year-old girl was shot in a car Thursday night on R.L. Thornton Freeway in Oak Cliff, Dallas police say.

The girl was a passenger in a car in the northbound lanes of the freeway near East Ledbetter Drive about 7:10 p.m. when she was struck, police said.

She was taken to a hospital in stable condition. Police did not identify her, and no additional information about her injuries was available Friday.

The shooter drove off in a gray vehicle and is still at large, police said.

Police did not release information on what led to the shooting or provide additional details.
