Arctic cold front arrives

Happy New Year! North Texas started 2022 with a potent weather system.

The temperature at DFW Airport reached 73 by 2 pm, but a strong cold front arrived and temperatures have plummeted since then.

This will be the coldest air of the winter so far in North Texas. But no precipitation is expected.

Expect freezing temperatures on both Sunday and Monday mornings. Sunday morning will offer a hard freeze with temperatures in the upper teens to mid-20s. Wind chill values Sunday morning will be down in the single digits in some areas.

After a couple of cold days, it will rebound to the 60s on Tuesday. But another cold front will arrive around mid-day on Wednesday, and temperatures will fall quickly once again, and remain chilly for the rest of the week.
