Shooting wounds 2 on McKinney Avenue in Uptown Dallas

Two people were wounded Sunday night during a shooting in Uptown Dallas, police said.

Officers working off-duty at Turkey DAM, a McKinney Avenue bar, heard rapid gunfire just after 8 p.m., Dallas police spokesman Officer Juan Fernandez said.

Two men approached the officers with gunshot wounds. One had been hit in the leg, while another had been shot in both the leg and shoulder, Fernandez said. Both men were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officers had blocked off a portion of Fairmount Street, just off McKinney, while they investigated the shooting. Several officers and detectives were also seen speaking to witnesses in front of Turkey DAM.

A spate of violence in Uptown is renewing calls for the city to enact new permitting requirements for businesses that want to serve alcohol after midnight.
