Very warm with high fire danger

Sunshine and very low humidity caused temperatures to climb to 92 at DFW Airport Sunday afternoon. That is the warmest day so far this year, and the first time DFW has reached the 90 degree threshold. And to the west, several spots reached the mid 90s.

The sunshine and very warm temperatures will combine with very low humidity and increasing south winds to cause high fire danger. Residents to the west of DFW, where Red Flag Warnings will be in effect, should especially be on guard for wildfires both Sunday and Monday.

The next chance of thunderstorms will arrive after midnight Tuesday night and into early Wednesday morning. Some storms could be strong to severe, with wind gusts the primary threat. But the fact that the storms will be coming in during the night, when temperatures are a bit cooler, may help limit the amount of severe weather. But even so, much of North Texas will be under a Slight Risk for severe storms.

Behind those storms, temperatures will cool back down for the middle and latter part of the week.
