Wind advisory for parts of North Texas continue until midnight Sunday, National Weather Service says

A wind advisory was in effect until midnight Sunday for parts of North Texas, including in Dallas and Fort Worth, according to the National Weather Service.

Severe weather is expected early this week, followed by a cold front on Wednesday, according to weather service forecasts. Six tornadoes across North Texas were confirmed by the weather service last week.

Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph were possible, and gusts may reach 40 to 45 mph on Sunday, according to the weather service website. People should secure outdoor objects, such as lawn furniture and trash bins, the National Weather Service said.

Isolated and scattered storms are also possible throughout Sunday near and east of the Interstate 35 corridor. Rain chances were 20% in Dallas and 10% in Fort Worth, according to weather service forecasts.

Temperatures Sunday evening are expected to be in the mid-60s, but on Monday are expected to reach the low-90s in Dallas-Fort Worth, according to weather service meteorologists.

Hail, damaging winds and tornadoes are possible on Tuesday as storms move east, and on Wednesday a “strong cold front” is expected to move through North Texas.

Elevated to critical fire danger is expected Wednesday in areas west of I-35 because of the dry conditions following the cold front, according to the weather service advisory.
