Severe storm threat returns

Winds gusted as high as 40 to 45 mph Sunday. A Wind Advisory will remain in effect until midnight.

The strong south winds brought increasing humidity, and that at least helped to lower the fire threat somewhat. A dry line approached late in the afternoon, but a strong cap helped inhibit most storms from forming. Still, a few isolated showers and thunderstorms did develop. But it appears the cap is strong enough to cause them to weaken soon after they form.

Thunderstorm chances will increase the next few days when isolated storms are possible late Monday afternoon, and more numerous storms likely on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. Some could certainly be strong to severe, with all modes of severe weather possible. A Slight Risk (Level 1) for severe weather blankets North Texas on Monday, and that increases to an Enhanced Risk (Level 3) on Tuesday.
