14-year-old killed, another teen wounded in Old East Dallas shooting

A 14-year-old boy was killed and 19-year-old man wounded in a shooting early Saturday in Old East Dallas, police said.

Officers responded about 1 a.m. to the 4900 block of Alton Avenue, between South Fitzhugh Avenue and South Munger Boulevard near the Old East Dallas Work Yard Park, where the two teens were shot.

The 14-year-old was shot in the head and died at a local hospital, police said.

The 19-year-old was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital. He is in stable condition, police said.

Their names were not released.
